FAQs

How natural and organic are your products?

Earth Friendly Baby products are a gentle blend of naturally-derived ingredients and certified organic extracts. We minimise the use of synthetic ingredients to balance the performance and mildness of our products. All of our products contain certified Organic Ingredients.

Do your products have organic certification?

Organic certification is a complex issue, and rules and standards are different from one certifying body to another. Whilst we do use fully certified organic ingredients we feel that the performance and affordability of our products are more important than having our entire products certified Organic.

Who certifies your products?

All of our products contain organic ingredients that have been certified by the Soil Association UK. Some products in our range also contain organic ingredients certified by the United States Department of Agriculture National Organic Program (USDA NOP).

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?

It is impossible to guarantee that any product will be suitable for everyone but we intentionally exclude ingredients (both natural & synthetic) that are known to provoke irritation or reactions and we pride ourselves on producing mild and gentle products. It is, of course, always advisable to be cautious when using any new products, as some people are even allergic to water. As a precaution, we recommend a patch test to identify any sensitivity to the product prior to normal application.

Are your products suitable for Vegetarians/Vegans?

All of our products are registered with the Vegetarian Society UK and the Vegan Society.

Do you test on animals?

Earth Friendly Baby does not support animal testing, and as such none of our products or their ingredients are tested on animals on our behalf. To show our commitment to this we operate a fixed cut-off date of 31/03/98

Are your packs biodegradable or recyclable?

Earth Friendly Baby packaging is recyclable where possible. Bottles are made of polyethylene teraphthalate (PET), and the caps from polypropylene(PP). We endeavour to use as much recycled and recyclable packaging as possible. Earth Friendly Baby wet wipes are 100% biodegradable and our 100% degradable nappy sacks break down to leave no harmful residue.

When should I switch from Earth Friendly Baby to Earth Friendly Kids?

Both the Earth Friendly Baby and Earth Friendly Kids ranges of skincare products contain natural ingredients, with no parabens, artificial colours or fragrances, and no Sodium Lauryl / Laureth Sulphates. The Earth Friendly Kids range includes the same gentle, natural ingredients from the Baby range, but is formulated and designed especially for older children. Although this does not mean that either range is unsuitable for babies or children, the Kids range contains slightly higher concentrations of essential oils, and we recommend using Earth Friendly Baby for babies and children up to 4 years of age, and then the Earth Friendly Kids range from four upwards.

Whats the best way to bathe a newborn?

We recommend washing your baby with just warm water, a damp sponge or flannel, and pieces of moistened cotton wool in a baby bath or even the kitchen sink for the first few weeks after birth. After the first few weeks you can introduce a more normal bathtime routine using a couple of capfuls of Earth friendly Baby bubble bath and shampoo and bodywash.

Why should I give my baby a massage?

Giving you baby a massage can be a lovely way to strengthen your attachment to him or her. It is also good to establish a consistent bedtime routine to encourage a healthy nights sleep. After a bath and before bedtime, pour a little oil into your hand and gently massage with long firm strokes into your baby's skin. Don't forget to finish with a cuddle.

My baby is often fussy at bedtime. What can I do to calm her down?

Creating a regular bedtime routine that your baby will look forward to will help them understand evenings are about quite time and sleep. Why not try the Earth Friendly Baby calming lavender bathtime and skincare range. A sensual bath followed by a moisturising skincare routine or a massage and a cuddle will help your baby settle down ready for a nights sleep.

Most of the Earth Friendly Baby range will depict the 12M symbol which means that after opening, the product will be fine to use for 12 months. In the European Union, cosmetics products with a shelf-life of at least 30 months are not required to carry a "best used before end of ..." date.
